VACANCIES FOR CO-OPTION
There is a vacancy for a councillor for the north ward and a vacancy for the central ward of Haxby Town Council, both of which can be filled by co-option.
If you are interested in being a town councillor, please submit your application in writing (email or letter) outlining your suitability to be a town councillor (skills, knowledge, experience etc).

To be eligible to apply, you must:
- be 18 years old or over; and
- be an elector for the parish; or
- have resided in the parish for the past twelve months or rented/tenanted land in the parish; or
- had your principal place of work in the parish; or
- have lived within three miles (directly) of the parish.
and not disqualified from being a councillor by virtue of section 80 of the Local Government Act 1972.
The closing date for the receipt of applications is 9am on Wednesday 24 June 2026.
At the full council meeting to be held on Monday 13 July 2026 (8pm), all applicants will be invited to attend to provide a short presentation as to their suitability as a town councillor (this part of the meeting will be held in private). The council will then decide upon the most suitable candidates to co-opt.
