Volunteer Morning

Haxby & Wigginton Cemetery is a special place at the heart of our community.  It provides a peaceful space for remembrance, reflects the history of local families, and is also home to a variety of wildlife that makes its home among the trees, hedgerows and green spaces.

This November, the Haxby & Wigginton Joint Cemetery Committee is inviting residents to join us for a Friends of Haxby & Wigginton Cemetery Volunteer Morning. The event will take place on Saturday 7th November from 9:30am and will last for just a couple of hours.

The aim is simply to come together and give the cemetery a seasonal tidy-up. There will be no heavy machinery or demanding tasks involved – just light activities such as weeding, sweeping paths, and a gentle cutting back of overgrown vegetation where needed.  Whether you can spare half an hour or stay for the whole session, every helping hand will make a difference.

As well as helping to care for the cemetery, the morning will be an opportunity to meet others who value this important community space, share ideas and enjoy a chat.

We would also love to hear your thoughts about the future of the cemetery.  The Committee welcomes suggestions on how the cemetery can continue to serve local families, support wildlife and remain a peaceful and well cared for place for generations to come.
