Consultation on a possible loan to redevelop the pavilion at the Ethel Ward site

PUBLIC CONSULTATION

POSSIBLE LOAN TO SUPPORT THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE PAVILION AT ETHEL WARD PLAYING FIELDS, HAXBY

Haxby Town Council wishes to redevelop the pavilion as it has seen better days.

The town council is hopeful of substantial financial support from the Football Foundation for the redevelopment but the town council would have to provide some funding too. The likely amount required for the town council’s contribution is £100,000.

The town council does not have sufficient funds to afford £100,000 so instead it is considering applying for a loan from the Public Works Loans Board (a government body which lends money for capital projects to local authorities).

The town council is considering applying for a loan of £100,000 with a repayment period of ten years. The annual repayment would be (approximately) £13,500.

The loan repayments would have to be met from the precept charged to residents. The effect on the precept of this loan would be that the annual charge to the average ‘band D’ property would increase from £55.95 to £60.10, so an extra £4.15 per year.

The town council would very much welcome your comments/views on this potential loan application which can be submitted as follows:
