Haxby Town Council serves a population of about 8,750 in a compact area of around 8.5 sq km, 4 miles to the north of the City of York.
Until 1996, the town formed part of Ryedale District within the County of North Yorkshire. As part of local government reorganisation, City of York became a Unitary Authority and extended its boundaries to include a much wider area around the City, including Haxby.
Christmas Lights
This year our traditional Christmas Lights switch on will be held on Thursday, 30 November at 6.00pm.
There will be two trees to light this year: one outside The Memorial Hall and another on the Village Green. Carol Singing will be led by The Community Choir and Generation Groove who will provide the music. We will have a programme for the event with a Carol Sheet so everyone can join in.
Refreshments provided by Haxby Town Council will be served outside Millers. Donations can be made in aid of charity. And, best of all we are hoping Santa will come along too...
